Vibrant UNIBEN 400l Law student dies of Cerebral Abscess at 19

           

         19 year old 400l Law student of University of Benin, Ceasar Augustus Ekeoba, died on May 6th. Doctors said he suffered from Cerebral Abscess which culminated in his death. Until his death, he was class representative, loved by lecturers and adored by students, this is according to his friends. They say Caesar had done UNIBEN Law Faculty proud in many competitions, a master of advocacy and an intellectual. He and some students had just returned from the US where they represented Nigeria at the Jessup Moot Court Competition in Washington DC, before he died.

I will not sleep until abducted girls are rescued says Jonathan

Abuja – President Goodluck Jonathan says he will “not sleep” or rest on his oars until the over 200 abducted girls in Government Secondary School, Chibok, Borno, are rescued. He stated this at a world press conference to mark the end of the World Economic Forum on Africa (WEF) hosted in Abuja. Jonathan, who appealed to the parents of the abducted girls to be patient and cooperate with government, said that the girls and their abductors were still within Nigeria.

He assured that with the support of the international community, the satellite imagery to be deployed would locate the kidnapped girls and they would be safely rescued.

“We plead with the parents, as a father, and the President of this country, I feel pained and I don’t sleep with my two eyes closed.

Sources said, “apart from the abduction of the female students, the gunmen also carted away food stuffs, before setting many residential houses and shops ablaze”.

A lucky resident of Chibok who escaped the attack, Mr. Nuhu Amos in a telephone chat with our Correspondent said, “ the gunmen armed with AK47 rifles, Improvised Explosive Devices ( IED’s ) and petrol bombs stormed Chibok on Monday evening and attacked one of the security posts, and shot two security personnel, before abducting the school girls, as well as the razing down of some houses and shops. “Although, the attackers based on my knowledge did not kill any resident, they only shot one security operatives, before carting away food stuffs and went away into the Sambisa forest.

Five suspected kidnappers shot dead in Edo

FIVE suspected kidnappers were shot dead yesterday by the police in Edo state during a gun duel with the suspects.

This comes as the Edo State Police Commissioner, Mr Funso Adebanjo raised an alarm that armed bandits and kidnappers are succeeding in Nigeria because Nigerians are not giving useful information to the police.

Saturday Vanguard learnt that the kidnappers who abducted a female victim and took her to a forest at Oluku along the Benin-Akure road, met their waterloo when detectives stormed the area at the early hours of yesterday.

The notorious kidnappers were said to have laid ambush for the detectives who stormed the area with a decoy vehicle and a Volkswagen Santana car. They rained bullets at the police officers who eventually took cover and responded abruptly. The names of the suspects were given as Smart Uche, Jerry M, Osarumwen Ekibise, Lucky Ekhator and Osai Friday.

Chibok: American Marines locate abducted girls in Sambisa forest

                                
There were indications yesterday that the 230 female students abducted by Boko Haram terrorists from the Government Girls’ Secondary School, GGSS, Chibok, Borno State, have been sited at the Sambisa Forest in Borno State, by the Special Forces of the United States Marines.

The girls who were abducted on April 14, were part of the 250 students boarded at the school for the West African School Certificate, WASC/ Senior Secondary School Certificate, SSSC, examinations, triggering world-wide condemnations.

This was even as more US military officials arrived Nigeria yesterday to join local officials in the search for nearly 300 school girls taken captives by the Islamist extremist group, Boko Haram, the US Secretary of State John Kerry, and the defence department, Pentagon, said.

Gov. Fashola threatens to ban churches, mosques and any organization that causes Noise pollution in Lagos

The Lagos State Government on Tuesday threatened to sanction any church or mosque found disturbing public peace with noise from their loud speakers.

The Commissioner for the Environment, Mr Tunji Bello, issued the threat at his Ministry’s 2014 Ministerial Press Briefing in Ikeja.

He said that government had been inundated with complaints from residents living near some religious places disturbing their neighbourhoods with noise and it would no longer watch the trend continue.

He said that worshiping God did not have to extend as far as encroaching on the rights of others to peace.

“It is not right for mosques and churches to disturb other people with noise from their activities, simply because they are worshipping God.

Britain And China Weighing In On Boko Haram Fight

   

Britain and China has assured President Goodluck Jonathan that they will lend assistance to Nigeria’s fight against the Boko Haram. The assistance comes on the heels of the latest attack by the Islamic sect in Gamboru Ngala, where a reported 150 people died in a firefight with the group in that village.

A statehouse press release obtained by SaharaReporters says that President Jonathan “requested and received commitments” from both David Cameron, the British Prime Minister, and Li Leqiang, the Chinese Premier, for the deployment of ‘intelligence gathering resources.’ The discussions, according to the press release, occurred in back-to-back talks with the two leaders. Li Keqiang, who President Jonathan had a face-to-face meeting, is in Nigeria on an official visit for the World Economic Forum.

Jonathan’s talk with David Cameron was by telephone. It was in that discussion where the British Prime Minister promised the deployment of British Satellite Imaging capabilities, and other advanced tracking technologies, in support of the Nigerian military’s ongoing effort to locate, and rescue, the still missing 270 female students.

Chibok girls: France offers to help Nigeria with security intelligence

The French govt has offered to help Nigeria by providing intelligence that would help in rescuing the kidnapped girls. This was made known by the Foreign Affairs minister of France, Laurent Fabius.

Speaking about it today, Mr Fabius said;

"The President has instructed to put the (intelligence) services at the disposal of Nigeria and neighbouring countries. This morning he asked us to contact the Nigerian president to tell him that a specialized unit with all the means we have in the region was at the disposal of Nigeria to help find and recover these young girls"
Meanwhile President Barrack Obama in an interview with ABC News condemned the abduction of the Chibok girls saying it was "outrageous" and "heartbreaking". He said this abduction could be the event that how awaken the entire world to work towards stopping Boko Haram activities

A female office worker has been caught on tape filling a milk carton with her own breast milk.

In the CCTV footage that has recently gone viral, an unidentified woman is seen entering an office kitchen and making herself a cup of coffee. She then takes a carton of milk from the fridge, pours some into her drink and suddenly lift her dress to the chest level. She apparently fills the carton with her breast milk.

The reasons for her doing so are yet unknown.

Drunk Couple Caught Having Oral Sex On Lawn Of Catholic Church

Wilson Benally, 56 and 60-year-old Sandra Kruser were caught having oral sex on the lawn of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, in Salt Lake City, Utah around 6pm.

The incident happened in the middle of a wedding Sunday which had four children in attendance and they witnessed the illicit act.

One of the guests had to run out into the street to stop a police car to come and help in breaking up the couple who were obviously drunk.

The cop who witnessed the incident said Mr Wilson had his tongue and finger inside the woman's vagina when he got the scene.

The officer tried ordering them to stop but that didn't work so he had to force them apart.

They were both charged with gross lewdness and public intoxication while Wilson received an extra charge of criminal trespass.

Both of them have criminal records. Wilson has been behind bars in Salt Lake a shocking 102 times while Sandra has been booked on 15 different occasions.

Provisional List For 2014 World Cup Finally Released

The highly awaited provisional 30-man list for the upcoming 2014 World Cup to be held in Brazil has been finally released, Premium Times reports.

As it was previously promised, the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, announced the squad submitted by Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi, Tuesday evening.

Police arrests Doctor For Selling Babies

Officers of the Anambra State police command, on Tuesday paraded a medical doctor, Daniel Ikebuilo, and owner of Nkemefuna Hospital in Umunachi, Dunukofia Local Government Area of the state for allegedly selling babies.



The doctor was also alleged to have been sponsoring young pregnant girls for the purposes of buying their babies after delivery in his clinic.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Emeka Chukwuemeka, who made this known to newsmen, said six other suspects were arrested for their alleged involvement in kidnapping and gun-running.

Chukwuemeka while parading the suspects at the headquarters of the State Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, disclosed that it was the second time Dr. Ikebuilo was being arrested for selling babies.

US To Deploy Troops To Rescue Abducted School Girls

The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati, on Tuesday announced that President Goodluck Jonathan, has accepted the offer of President of the United States of America, Barrack Obama, to assist Nigerian troops in rescuing the 234 school girls that were abducted by Boko Haram sect, from Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State.

Abati, said that the president accepted the offer through phone conversation with United States Secretary of State, Mr. John Kerry.

"President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Tuesday welcomed and accepted a definite offer of help from the United States of America in the ongoing effort to locate and rescue the girls abducted from the Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok three weeks ago" he said.

US Offers Expert Team To Help Find Chibok Missing Girls

The United States of America switched from words to action in an attempt to find over 200 missing GGSS Chibok female students.

The U.S. Secretary of the State, John Kerry, offered to send “a team of experts” to Nigeria, during a telephone call to President Goodluck Jonathan on May 6, 2014, Tuesday.

According to the spokesperson of the U.S. State Department, Jen Psaki, President Jonathan “welcomed” the offer.

It would be recalled that John Kerry promised help to Nigeria on May 4, 2014, Saturday, when he declared that the U.S.A. will “do everything possible to support the Nigerian government to return these young women to their homes and to hold the perpetrators to justice”.

Other world powers, including the U.K., France and China are also on the list of potential assistants of the Federal Government in their rescue mission.

Teenager rapes and kills landlord’s 4-year-old daughter in Imo State

Franklin Njoku, a Senior School Certificate Examination candidate has been arrested for raping and killing the four year of daughter of his landlord, Gloria Eze, Tribune reports.

18 year old Franklin from Ohekelem in Ngorokpala LGA of Imo state was posted by WAEC to sit for his exams in Aboh Mbaise Secondary School at Uvuru village, and because of the distance of Uvuru from their village, his parents got him a one room apartment where he met the 4 year old.
On April 16th, Franklin lured the four year old with biscuit and sweets into a nearby bush, where he raped her, strangled her to death and hanged her lifeless body on a dwarf palm tree to make it look like she killed herself. Boko Haram reportedly abducts 8 more girls in fresh attack

According to a Vanguard report, Boko Haram men on Sunday May 4th, abducted 8 girls, ages 12-15 from Warabe village in Gwoza LGA of Borno state after an attack in the village, which is about 160 kilometres from Maiduguri the state capital.

According to an eyewitness, Mallam Bello Umar who spoke with Vanguard, the men carted away food and other items during the attack.
"A group of terrorists invaded Warabe village on Sunday night, abducted 8 of our teenage girls before carting away with our foodstuffs and livestock. As I am talking to you know, I have ran to Gwoza council headquarters, and even in Gwoza, we are restricted around the council secretariat due to the fear of the terrorists. The situation is so pathetic as almost all Gwoza people including villagers who came for safety are only restricted in a safer zone close to the council secretariat where there is enough presence of security personnel”, Bello said

#BringBackOurGirls: Nigerian military steps up efforts to find missing schoolgirls

Reports say two Nigerian Army divisions have been deployed to the search of kidnapped Government Girls’ Secondary School (GGSS) students who were abducted by men suspected to be members of the Boko Haram Islamic sect.

Reports say hundreds of female students are still being held by the militants with about 53 of them escaping from their captives after they were taken from their school dormitories on April 14.

The search has been intensified within Borno with other military and security agency units along Nigeria’s international borders maintaining links with the search teams.

Reports say facilities of the Nigerian Army Signals Corps along with all the electronic communication outfits of all other services and the police are monitoring, coordinating the link of all land and air searches.

And also there have been series of air sortie by the Nigerian Air force with diverse aircrafts in the aerial surveillance backing the ground patrols being done by foot and vehicles. Several aerial photographs & films have been taken and used.

President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday said in a media chat that all the abducted students will be brought back to their parents. This is after widespread local and international condemnation of the perceived reluctance of the government to deploy resources promptly in rescuing the abducted girls.

The First Lady of Nigeria, Patience Jonathan, recently expressed her displeasure at the conduct of the Borno First Lady, Nana Shettima after the latter missed a meeting called by the former to review the current situation in the state.

Abubakar Shekau, the leader of terrorist sect, Boko Haram, has released a video where he makes threats against the country.

Shekau goes on a tirade in Hausa and Arabic during which he states that he will sell the abducted girls and soak the ground with Christian blood.

The sect leader also states that girls are meant to be married and not educated in the long video in which he called Christians “smelling infidels”

The video lasts 56 minutes and 58 seconds, and shows Iman Shekau speaking from a script, surrounded by heavily armed fighters, backed by an armored personnel carrier, and two other armed vehicles.

Iman Shekau said, “I am the one that took your girls. Are you the one that created the girls? I will sell them in the market. I have my own market of selling human beings. It is Allah, the owner that instructed me to sell. I will sell the girls.”

Man dies after marathon sex with university student in Ebonyi

A man in Ebonyi is said to have lost his life after having a long bout of sexual intercourse with a female undergraduate.

The unnamed man is said to have died during one of the many rounds he had with the equally unnamed girl, who is said to be a student of the Ebonyi State University.

The incident is said to have occurred at the girl’s hostel near the Presco campus of the university in in Abakaliki, the state capital.

Sources at the hostel, where the incident occurred, said the man died in the day time inside the room of the said female student located at Goddy Ogbaga Avenue during marathon sex with her.

It was gathered that the girl, after the incident, took the body of the deceased to his car before she proceeded to report the incident to the police. She was immediately arrested and is currently helping the police in the investigation of the incident.

A hostel resident, who did not want his name in print, told Vanguard: “It threw the entire hostel residents into confusion as everybody began to run helter-skelter to evade police arrest. Some of the hostel residents have been arrested by police.”

“I did not know what was happening until when police stormed our hostel and began to arrest everybody on sight. But from what I heard the man visited the girl and in the process of making love, he died.

“I cannot say for sure if the man was a mere acquaintance to the girl or not. All I can say for sure is that I have not been seeing the man visiting the girl in the past.

“I don’t know the girl very well because our hostel is very large. It is a three-storey building and many students are living there. I do not know who is who except my friends. So I don’t know the name of the girl, department or her level in school.”

Police spokesman in the state, ASP Chris Anyanwu, confirmed the incident but said he had not been fully briefed on the incident.

Pastor, 58, raped girl, 13, in Alabama church bathroom

58 year old Alabama pastor, Tyrone Banks (pictured above) has been arrested for allegedly raping the 13year old daughter of one of his family friends.

According to police report, Tyrone, who had gained the trust of the girl, drove her to a Hueytown church last month, and once there, the man used a key to get into the building and raped the girl in the kitchen. He then drove the girl home, where she immediately told her mother what had happened.


Tyrone was arrested on Friday and has been charged of rape by forcible compulsion and first-degree sodomy.

In her confessional statement, Madam Sukuratu said she sold human heads for N20,000 to willing buyers and that greed made her go into the business.
"A herbalist approached me last year and demanded for human parts. When he told me how much they buy the parts, I was tempted. I approached one Tantoloun, who works in a grave yard. He sold a skull for N10,000 and I sold it in return for N20,000. Greed made me to continue until I was arrested. I buy pieces of bones for N2,000, liver and intestines for N1,000 each and resell for N5,000 or more depending on the buyer’s bargaining power. I am not a killer. I have never killed anyone. I only request for decomposed human parts. I needed the money to feed my 3 children aged 30, 27 and 23. Those who patronize me are herbalists and trado-medical practitioners. The parts are used to prepare concoction for sick children. So far, I have only sold 10 human skulls.” she said.

Gunmen attack Abuja school, hijack school bus

Unknown gunmen around 8 this morning attacked a primary school, Vine International Academy school, in Nyanya, the scene of recent bomb attacks and made away with the school bus.

According to eye witnesses, the men trailed the bus to the school and immediately the driver dropped the pupils inside the school, the men struck, stealing the vehicle. Thankfully no teacher or student was hurt in the incident.

A staff of the school later said the operation looked more like armed robbery than an attack from terrorists. Immediately the incident spread, many parents trooped to the school out of panic and took their children home.

Amid mounting public fury and an international outcry over the fate of 230 kidnapped Nigerian teenage girls – now missing for nearly two weeks – the controversial cleric declared, “They have to be released. That is the voice of God!”

He proceeded to describe a revelation he claimed God had shown him. “I saw a vision where some of these girls have escaped and they are trying to find their way from the forest to the town.”

He added that the remaining children under custody would also be released soon. “God has spoken – these children must be released,” Joshua authoritatively declared. “We can’t wait to see them.”

A man in Ogun has been arrested and detained by the police after he allegedly raped a woman and murdered her baby.

32-year-old Bashir Ibrahim is said to have stated that a “blood spirit” made him commit the crimes.

Ibrahim, a labourer, was said to be chatty and jovial as he tried to explain that he was in fact also a victim and not a perpetrator of premeditated murder.

According to a press statement by presidential Spokesperson, Reuben Abati, the Presidential chat will start by 7pm and will be aired live on the network services of the NTA, the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria and the Voice of Nigeria.

"During the programme, President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan will respond to questions from a panel of journalists and media executives on current national issues and developments.
