Gov Peter Obi rewards 1st Class Anambra graduates with N1m each

Yesterday at the Alex Ekwueme Square in Anambra state, Anambra Governor Peter Obi presented a cheque of N160 million which is to be disbursed to 160 first class graduates who are origins of the state. The Governor said it was a gesture by his administration to encourage undergraduate students to strive for academic excellence.

He directed that none of the recepients should be given cash but the money should be paid into their various accounts for better utilization.

OPC members rescues raped 14 year old girl in Agege lagos state Nigeria

Members of the O’odua People’s Congress, OPC, and concerned Lagosians rescued a teenager, who was raped, robbed and abandoned by an unidentified man in Agege area of Lagos, PM News reports

The OPC members saw the secondary schoolgirl on Sunday, 9 March in a traumatized state at a public toilet near NITEL Office, at Oko Oba, Agege

And after giving her first aid treatment, the teenager was handed over to the police at the Agege Elere Police Divisional Headquarters, who referred her to Orile Agege General Hospital,  Agege for a comprehensive medical treatment.

The teenager, who will be 15 by August, narrated that she came from Osun State and was on her way to Badagry to stay with her aunty who had just given birth, but decided to have a stay the night at Agege, when it became late (around 9.p.m.) and she couldn’t get a bus to her destination. Continue...The traumatised girl told the OPC members that when it became dark she decided to sleep in front of a shopping complex, near Elere Police Divisional Headquarters, till the next day.

The victim said that shortly after she spread some cartons and was about to sleep, a man pushed her from behind and she fell on the floor.

She narrated that the man used her belt to tie her neck and used a cloth to cover her face and started raping her.

The victim said she screamed and shouted for help but there was no one to rescue her and the man raped her four times.

She alleged that thereafter, a night guard, whom she described as huge and tall, and wore eyeglasses, came with a torch light and left with the rapist to an unknown destination.

She alleged that the night guard left her with blood all over her body without making any attempt to help her.

She alleged that the guard only came the next day to chase her across the road to the public toilet where she was later found by the OPC members and sympathisers.

“It was at this spot that the OPC members and other sympathisers saw me. They started pouring water on my head because I had no strength. The man after raping me stole my handset and left with the guard. Before they left, they asked me how much I needed but I said I didn’t need their money,” the teenager said. The girl appealed to the Federal Government and the Lagos State government to come to her aid and ensure the culprits do not go unpunished.

The DPO, CSP Eze Philip, of  Elere Police Divisional Headquarters, has begun  investigation on the matter,  after instructing that  the victim should be taken to the nearby hospital for quick medical attention to save her life. The girl is still receiving treatment, while her father has been contacted in Osun State.

(Video) Yobe Government Donates N100 Million To Victims Of Boko Haram Attack

Victims of the bloody attack, launched by Boko Haram insurgents on the Federal Government College, Buni-Yadi, on February 25, have received financial help from the Yobe Government.Apart from donating N100 million, the officials also deployed security operatives and vigilante groups to search for missing students.

According to the Chairman of the special Committee set to assist the victims, Ahmed Goniri, the body members will collaborate with  the school authority to ascertain the number of students missing and also meet with their parents.

Soldiers Raid Boko Haram Hideouts, Kill 20 In Borno State

Boko Haram gunmen returned late last night to Mafa and Ajiri villages in Borno State to attack the villagers but this time they met their match. Soldiers guarding the villages and neighboring ones opened fire on the insurgents, killing at least 20 of them. But instead of retreating, eye witnesses said the Boko Haram members came in their hundreds and engaged the military men in a gun battle.

Fortunately the military men overpowered them, killed many of them and seized different calibers of machine guns and improvised explosive devices from them, this is according to the Director of Defence Information, Maj.Gen Chris Olukolade. He said some soldiers, who were from the 7th Division of the Nigerian Army in Maiduguri, were injured in the battle but no soldier was killed.

Robbers now plenteous along mile 2 street lagos

The ongoing road construction on Apapa Expressway is causing high traffic on the road and armed robbers are taking advantage of the situation to rob road users, this is according to people who ply that route.

This morning two MTN female staff working at the office in Apapa were robbed. One of the victims who was also robbed last week was stabbed in the eye with a knife after the robbers broke their car window. A LIB reader who witnessed the incident sent in the photos (See pics of the robbery victim in the hospital after the cut)

Sham bride arrested trying to marry her fourth Nigerian husband

One of UK's most prolific sham brides, Raquel Neto Furtado De Andrade, 22, has been arrested and sentenced to two years in prison after trying to marry her fourth husband...a Nigerian.

According to the UK Daily Mail, Raquel, who had already married three Nigerians to help give them the right to stay in the UK was caught just minutes before she could marry her fourth husband.

Suspicious staff at the registry noticed she'd been there previously to wed other men and used the same wedding dress at each ceremony. And after she was arrested, records showed she hadn't even bothered to formally divorce previous husbands before marrying a new one...for money.

The fourth groom, a 32-year-old Nigerian (pictured above), was arrested with her and has been deported. UK Immigration is now looking for her three other husbands so they can be deported too.

As for Rachel, she is now behind bars serving a two-year sentence and will be deported to her native Portugal on her release from prison.
